Diarrhea is an extremely common occurrence in dogs. But did you know that many cases of diarrhea are caused by a bacterial pathogen called Clostridioides difficile (also known as C. difficile, or C. diff for short)? If you take your sick dog to the veterinarian for frequent diarrhea, your vet will typically run a test on their stool that looks for the presence of particular bacterial pathogens, including Clostridioides difficile.
